Haluan aina silloin tällöin esitellä teille blogissani naisia, joilla on kiinnostava ja jollakin tavalla ehkä myös hieman erilainen tausta. Aikaisemmin haastattelin kahta suurperheen äitiä (linkki tässä). Tänään postaan teille haastettelun erään naisen, äidin, kanssa, joka asuu Suomessa mutta jonka alkuperäinen kulttuuritausta on eri.

1. Miksi Suomi
Olet tullut Suomeen aikuisena Afrikasta, Ghanasta. Mikä sai sinut alunperin kiinnostumaan Suomesta tai haluamaan tulla tänne? You came here as an adult from Ghana, Africa. What was interesting in Finland or what was the reason for you wanting to come here?
Tulin suomeen koska sain teitoa kaverilta jotka asuvat suomessa että koulutus täällä on maailmaan paras. Myös he sanovat että on rauhallinen maa ja turvallinen paika asua. Olen halunut matkustaa ja asua ulkomaille ja sillion kun tutkin netissa eri maasta ja minkallainen se on asua eri paikoissa, Suomi oli ensimainen listalla siksi kiinostuin elämäntapa suomeessa. Tein päätös tulla tanne koska se oli sopusoinnussa arvojeni kanssa.
2. Sopeutuminen
Onko Suomeen ollut vaikea sopeutua? Has it been difficult adapting into Finland and Finnish culture?
Alussa se oli vaikea, pidän itseäni vapaana henkenä. Luulisin että sain uusia paikallisia kavereita helposti ja sopeutuu nopeasti muuta yllätuin kun ei tahpatunut. Sitten oli myös se kieli oppiminen. Meni kyllä monta vuotta ennen kun opin. Kylmä ei koskaan häirinnyt minua kun oppin pukeutunut oikealla tavalla. Se oli suurri opiminen muutos minulle. Minusta kärsivällisyys oli yksi periaate mikä autoi minua sopeutu suomessa. Myös koska minun mies on suomalainen opin nopeasti suomalaisten kuulturia.
3. Ystävät Suomessa
Onko ystävien saaminen ollut helppoa? Has it been easy to make friends here?
Kyllä, olen aina vallitanut ketkä haluan olla ystäväpiirini. Kun tykää jotku ja yritän olla kaveri hänen kanssa, lähestuin ja kiinostaa hänestä. I prefer friends who share the same values as me, and usually these friends are easy to make, whether they are Finnish or from other countries, otherwise its Ylenssä se on tosi hidaas prosessi saada uusi kaveri. Jos hän hyväksyy minua, hyvää se on mutta jos sain signaali että hän ei halua minua kaveriksi, jatkan elämäni ilmaan häntä.
4. Parannusehdotuksia suomalaisen kulttuuriin
Mielestäni suomalaisessa kulttuurissa olisi paljon opittavaa muista kulttuureista. Mitä muuttaisit Suomessa parempaan? My personal opinion is that we, in Finland, have a lot to learn from other cultures. What would you change in Finland, if you could?
I think Finns take this whole building friendship too serious. I personally think friends come and go in one's life and there are different things one can learn from a friend, so make as much friends as possible because you learn different things from different people.
5. Äitiys täällä vs. Ghanassa
Sinulla on kaksi lasta. Luuletko, että olisi erilaista olla äiti Ghanassa kuin olla äiti täällä Suomessa? You have two children. Do you think that it would be very different to be a mother in Ghana compared with being a mother here in Finland?
It would have been different being a mother in Ghana, In Ghana, I would have had help all the time with my kids since i could have afforded a baby sitter for the kids. Also i could have had a house maid who would help me with the chores around the house. I would have a lot of time for the kids since i would have people working for me in my house.
I have help here in Finland, my mother in law is a gem, she comes by every week to help with the kids and i am very grateful. The kids and i also send 2-3 days in her house if she is not able to come to our house.
6. Ennakkoluulot
Sinä olet naimisissa suomalaisen miehen kanssa, sinulla on afrikkalainen tausta ja sinun lapsillasi on afrikkalaista taustaa oleva äiti. Sinulla on myös perhe Ghanassa. He näkevät sinun elävän hyvin erilaisessa kulttuurissa. Minkälaisia ennakkoluuloja olet kohdannut täällä tai Ghanassa? You are married with a Finnish guy, you are of African background and your children have a mother of African background. Also, your family in Ghana sees you living in a very different culture. What kind of prejudice did you come across here or in Ghana?
My immediate family members from Ghana are very open minded, they don't expect me to raise my kids up in any specific manner based on Ghanaian culture. All my siblings are in The USA. We accept other cultures and uphold our values. My parents believe that i am capable of being a good parent so they don't over give advice unless i ask their opinion.
7. Tubettaminen
Sinulla on useampi somekanava ja YouTubea päivität viikoittain. Mitä haluat sanoa somekanavillasi? You have several social media channels and YouTube you are updating on a weekly basis. What is your agenda there?
I am very active on social media because its a platform i can use to share my knowledge with other people. On my YouTube channel for example i discuss the importance of self reliance, how we can be self-reliant, live a simple life, be intentional about the decisions we make in life and save money. Its also a good place to meet new friends. I will love for it to be my job. That is make income from these platforms that way i can be home with the kids since i can work from home and the kids are also very young.
8. Somekanavien agenda
Sinun somekanaviesi keskeinen teema on rahan säästäminen. Jos saisit antaa yhden vinkin, kuinka säästää rahaa, niin mikä se olisi? So, your channels are mostly about, how to save money. What would be your number one tip for saving money?
One tip to save money is to spend less than you make monthly that way you can gradually build wealth by investing with those monies you save and be financially free.
9. Miksi YouTube
Mikä sai sinut alunperin kiinnostumaan YouTuben tekemisestä? How did you originally come into YouTubing?
I spend a lot of my time watching other YouTube videos. I noticed that not a lot of people are making videos about saving money, frugality and intentional living so i decided to start making videos on these subjects that way there is one more person on the internet talking about the subjects.
10. Miten aika riittää
Sitten vielä viimeinen kysymys liittyen ajankäyttöön. Tätä kysytään somen tekijöiltä jatkuvasti: Kuinka sinulla on aikaa sosiaaliselle medialle pienten lasten kanssa? One last question that is often asked from us that are "making social media" and having young children: How do you have time for social media?
I have a calendar where i plan all i do on social media. I usually work on the subjects and ideas i want to publish in the evenings after the kids go to sleep. It does not always work but i try to be flexible. Sometimes i work when they take their afternoon naps. When my mother in-law is taking care of the kids i take advantage of the time to record and edit and post videos.
